Maternity Portrait Poses
Maternity portraits are some of the funnest sessions I like to photograph. Whether you are expecting your first child – or adding a sibling to the mix, it is an exciting time. Maternity portrait poses should be fun and feel natural. Below are a few of my favorite maternity portrait poses and ways I like to photograph them.
JUST YOUR BABY BUMP: I start every maternity portrait session off by taking picture of just your baby bump. Most of the images will have you highlighting your baby bump by either cupping it on the top-and-bottom or having both hands on the bottom of your bump.
WALKING SHOTS: I want your images to feel natural and unposed. One of the easiest ways to do this is by getting portraits of you and your partner walking. Something that should come very natural to you!
BABY SHOES: Including props into your session is a really good way to make the session into your own. A great resource for maternity portrait props is Etsy. I recommend using just 2-3 props during the session – as we want the focus of the session to be on you and not all about the props 🙂 Some of my past clients have used baby shoes, a customized banner, or a framed sonogram as props for their session.
KISSING THE BUMP: Cliche or not, I like getting pictures of the baby bump being kissed! I just think it’s cute 🙂
MAKING A HEART: If the sun is low in the sky, we can get a heart shadow on the baby bump. We can also make a heart out of your hands – which is also VERY cute.
If you like some of the above poses and would like to schedule a session of your own, you can email me at [email protected]. Or you can fill out a brief contact form through my website. I look forward to connecting with you soon!
