Wrike is one of the fastest growing companies in the United States. They moved into their brand new headquarters in Downtown San Jose and I was there to capture corporate event photography for their ribbon cutting ceremony. You can learn more about the company and see more about the event on the Business Wire 😉
I had a lot of fun and was able to capture some really fun photographs of the company’s employees; and Wrike’s CEO (Andrew Filev) cutting the ribbon with San Jose’s Mayor Sam Liccardo.
Shots of the Details
When I do corporate event photography, I arrive early and the first thing I look at capture are any decorations or special things that are set up. These shots are the easiest to get when there are not a lot of people around. For this event, there was not much set up – but this is not always the case : )
Identifying the VIP’s
Secondly, it is very important to get a variety of candid moments of people interacting and enjoying the party. It is a good idea to figure out who are the VIP’s and to make sure to capture as many photos of them as you can. In this case, the two most important people were Wrike’s CEO, Andrew Filev, and San Jose’s Mayor (Sam Liccardo).
Wide and Zoomed Shots
For events, I like to photograph things from a distance – so that I can capture a lot of candid moments without people noticing I am even taking pictures. I find that you get genuine expressions when people do not see a GIANT camera pointed at them! A lot of the images I capture are cropped tightly, but it is also very important to get a handful of wide shots to be able to get an idea of how many people are in attendance, the size of the space, etc.
Capturing Different Perspectives
Last but not least, another important aspect I look for is getting different angles. For example, if someone is giving a speech, I’ll look to photograph the speech from the perspective of the person giving the speech. But I will also look to capture the perspective of the person receiving the speech.
If you have an event that you would like photographed, I’d LOVE to hear from you! The best way to reach me is right on my website through the contact form.
