The Importance of a Professional Headshot

Every professional business person needs a headshot! Headshots are an opportunity to set you and your company apart from the competition. Not only this, it also sets a GREAT first impression of your business.

What’s The Purpose?

Well that is a great question! And it depends on what you are planning to use the them for. For example, many of my clients use their headshots for business proposals. Before a company sets up a contract to do business with certain companies, they often want to learn a little more about the employees. Some companies are laid back and suits-and-ties are a non starter; and in this case, your headshot should reflect more of a casual look.

Inside or Outside?

Another GREAT question 😉 They really can be taken inside or outside; and this is more of a personal preference. Believe it or not, you can take a headshot indoors with a backdrop and cut it out onto a completely different background. If you are planning to do headshots for a large company – I would recommend taking them inside so that they have a consistent background. Most headshots are cropped really tight – hence the name of the portrait. But you may also want what I call a “lifestyle” headshot. These types of portraits incorporate more of the background and are cropped to add more of your body.

Are The Images Edited?

Photographers RARELY deliver unedited photos. The images you would receive are fully edited (skin softening, removal of stray hairs, teeth whitening, etc.) and ready to post online. I deliver between 3-6 images for the session and make sure to get three different angles (straight on, angled left, angled right). The images are also cropped to be portrait and landscape oriented.
