Family Portraits in Mountain View

I am a little bias, but I think family portraits are one of the best things you can do as a family. It’s a chance to take a break from your busy lives and to just focus on each other. There are a lot of great places to take family portraits in Mountain View. One of my favorite places to shoot is at Cuesta Park.

    

Family portraits should be a time to celebrate you and your loved ones; and it should be something that you do AT LEAST once a year. Kids get bigger, hair turns grey, and you cannot go back and capture these moments.

    

Family portrait sessions last 30 to 60 minutes long. In that time, I like to capture images that feel natural and unposed. One of the ways that I accomplish this is by having you guys focus on each other – and not me 🙂 I may have you guys do a couple of walking poses or I may have you say something funny about one of your family members.

    

The fun shouldn’t stop at the end of our session. I encourage my clients to schedule something fun afterwards. This works as a great incentive to younger children, and it gives you more time to spend with your family. For example, many of the locations that I like to shoot at have playgrounds for younger kids. If the group is a little too old to play on the monkey bars, going out to yogurt or making reservations at your favorite restaurant is another great idea.

    

No matter the size of the group, I try to cover all of the different groupings. We will always get a group shot of the entire bunch, but it is important to also get shots of Dad-and-baby, Mom-and-baby, etc.
