Joe’s Retirement Party at the Olympic Club
The Olympic Club is notably recognized as the oldest athletic club in the United States! According to Wikipedia, It is also one of the first 100 golf clubs established in the United States; and home to a handful of PGA Tour Championships and U.S. Opens. It has a lot of history. And this was the setting of Joe’s retirement party!
There were about 75 guests in attendance for the party. Guests chatted over cocktails and reminisced about over 4 decades of memories. Before too many of the guests arrived, I snapped some pictures of the venue and of the decorations.
Cocktail Hour
As guests started to arrive, they opened the bar area for people to mingle and order cocktails 🙂 This may have aided in some of the hilarious speeches people gave later in the evening!
Speeches
After cocktail hour ended, everyone found their way to their tables for dinner. Once dinner was served, Joe’s three kids had a bunch of funny stories to tell about their dad. One of the things I like most about photographing events are the speeches. You learn a lot about the person you are photographing. And you get to witness some of the funniest, sweetest tributes!
One of Joe’s daughter spoke about how she would always come to “bring your daughter to work” days. Her father’s coworkers would tell her hilarious stories and it seemed like no work was ever going on. She spoke about how one of her dad’s coworkers told her that her dad was an expert at photographing his butt! This, of course got a huge laugh out of the crowd – and a smirk from her dad 🙂
Family-Family-Family
A common theme in all of the speeches was FAMILY. Joe’s kid’s spoke about how great a father he was. His coworkers commented on how Joe always spoke about how proud he was of his children. And I think that Joe will enjoy being able to spend more time with his family. Congratulations on 41 years with ONE company! I had a lot of fun capturing the event 🙂
If you have an event that needs to be photographed, I’d LOVE to connect with you. The best way to reach out to me is through the contact form on my website. Thanks!
