The Importance of Getting Ready Photos
Getting ready photos are sometimes overlooked as a part of a wedding that does not need to be photographed. As a photographer, I would caution any couple from disregarding these moments. It is one of the only times of a wedding where you’ll be apart from your partner; and it is one of those moments you’ll want to look back on later. Here are some moments we captured from Claireace & Paulo’s wedding.
Capturing the Details
The first thing that I do, when photographing couples getting ready is to get images of all of the details. This includes your wedding dress, shoes, jewelry, etc. Before the wedding, I like to meet with each couple to make sure that I have an idea of all the important details that should be photographed. Some Brides have really fancy shoes that they want photographed – and some do not 😉
Candid Moments With Your Bridal Party
Getting ready photos is also a great opportunity to capture fun moments with your family and bridal party. While you are getting ready, you can imagine that I am not even there 🙂 Unless you specifically ask for posed moments to be photographed, I will be in the background capturing these moments like a “fly on the wall.”
Exchanging Gifts/Notes
While you are getting ready, a really beautiful moment to photograph is the exchanging of gifts/notes. As you get closer-and-closer to the ceremony, you’ll have butterflies. A simple note or a gift from your partner goes a long way in calming some of these nerves and it is a beautiful moment to look back on after the wedding.
A Toast To Take The Edge Off!
Getting ready photos would not be complete without some shots or a toast. There will be plenty of time to have drinks and to celebrate with all of your friends and family – so do not overdue this too much 😉 We want to make sure we get through the ceremony before any of the heavy drinking takes place!
