Beach Photo Shoot In Capitola | Cathy
In the last couple of months, I’ve scheduled close to a dozen sessions at the Capitola Wharf. It is just a beautiful place to take pictures. There is something about the water and the sand that creates really nice images. Here are some of the images from Cathy’s beach photo shoot in Capitola – and three tips to consider for your beach shoot.
Make Sure to Color Coordinate
One of the most frequently asked questions that I get is, “what should we wear?” For family portraits, any set of colors will work fine and there are a couple of different options you can look into. The first is to wear complimentary colors. If the location that you are going to has blue water or green grass, you can wear a complimentary color of this. You can also have all of the ladies wear one color and all of the guys wear another. If you plan on using your images for Holiday cards, colors like red or green will work well – and I believe this is what Cathy and her family were planning on 😉
Prepare to Get a Little Wet
For beach sessions, I like to get images of you and the family close to the water. Sometimes the waves will jump up and get you a little wet – so it is important to prepare for this. Going barefoot and rolling up your pants legs is usually all that it takes. If you are daring enough to get a little wet, this makes for some really fun images 🙂
Make Sure Pets Are Allowed
If you plan on including pets, checking to make sure that pets are allowed on the beach is important. I have been to the Capitola Wharf several times and it seems like pets are OK. The area of the beach that I like to shoot at is pretty quiet in the evening and so I do not believe that it is a big deal 🙂 Other beaches may not be as relaxed on this policy and so it is always a good idea to double check.
