Jade’s First Birthday Portraits
First birthday portraits are a lot of fun! Even though your child may not ever remember anything about the party – this is not a reason not to celebrate 🙂 First birthday portraits are about making it through that first year and all of the friends and family that have been there to help.
Pictures of the Decorations
The very first thing that I do, when photographing an event, is to get as many shots of the decorations before too many guests have arrived. Chances are that you’ve spent a lot of time and money on these things and so we want to get a bunch of pictures of them.
Candid Pictures of You and Your Guests
The majority of the images that I look to capture of events are natural, candid moments of you and your guests. I am constantly moving around and looking for these moments. If there are any VIP’s – be sure to let me know so that I can focus on getting pictures of them.
Posed Pictures With Family
Before the party ends, we will be sure to get a bunch of picture of friends and family. It is typically best to do this at the beginning or middle of the party – before any guests have to leave or the baby is too distracted 😉
Smashing The Cake
I’m not even sure where the whole “smash cake” trend came from – but it is present in 99% of the first birthday portraits that I photograph. It is hit or miss on whether or not the baby will actually smash the cake – but it is an adorable moment nonetheless!
