Fun Holiday Portraits at Vasona Park
The months of October, November, and December are the three busiest months of the year for family portraits. Everyone wants to get really nice portraits of their family to send out to their friends and family. Here are some of the fun holiday portraits at Vasona Park of Kaitlin and her family!
Make Sure To Plan Ahead For Your Holiday Portraits
Perhaps the most important thing to consider, when thinking about your own Holiday portrait session, is to schedule it in advance. Most Photographers are very busy at this time of the year. Getting your session on their calendar, before it is too packed, is crucial! Planning your session in advance gives you the opportunity to make sure that you have all of your outfits coordinated. If you plan on having a large group of family members, scheduling the session far in advance gives you more of a chance that everyone will be available.
Keep An Eye On The Time of Sunset
No doubt, the very-very-very best time for outdoor portraits is going to be in the hour or so before the sun is setting. If you are able to get on the calendar for one of these time slots, this will ensure that you get really beautiful images 🙂 Other times of the day also work – but there are limitations to where some of the good spots for the portraits can take place. For example, in the middle of the day you can still schedule and take portraits. But at this time you may be limited to only taking pictures in areas with open shade. Certain locations may even require the Photographer to bring extra lighting in order to capture a balanced image. Depending on the location of the session, you may be asked to provide a photo permit or to leave if you have extra lighting and equipment!
Another thing to keep in mind is that Daylight Savings time falls at the beginning of November. During this time, we lose an hour of sleep and an hour of light! Sunset, for example, goes from being at 6 PM to being at 5 PM. This, coupled with the rush for Holiday Portraits makes November and December even harder to schedule your session.
Milestone Portraits
If your child has a birthday around the holiday’s, make sure to get some milestone images of just them. These images can be used for invitations or for Christmas gifts for family members.
