Fun Family Portraits at Vasona Park | Susie
I think the best family portraits are those that appear natural and candid. Here are some of the fun family portraits at Vasona Park of Susie and her family. And 3 tips on how to look natural in family portraits.
Don’t Look At The Camera
While there will be moments in the session where we have everyone looking at the camera, but the most natural looking images are those where you are not looking at the camera. There are a lot of ways that we can get these types of images. If I have a family with parents and kids that are older than 6, for example, I’ll usually ask everyone a question. With the questions that I ask, I encourage everyone to interact and not focus on looking at the camera. By having the focus on each other, we will be able to capture very candid and natural looking images 😉
Go On A Little Stroll In The Park
Perhaps the easiest way to capture natural looking images is by doing “walking shots.” It is something that everyone knows how to do and is a good way to get people interacting. I will typically do these shots during the first half of the session. Once everyone can see how natural and candid the session is, it makes it a little easier the rest of the session.
Bring Something With You To Play With
Another great way to capture natural and candid images is by bringing something with you to the session. It can be a book – that everyone reads together. Or it can be something like a football or a Frisbee. Board or card games are also really fun to use in photos 🙂
Hopefully these are some useful tips that you can use for your own session. If you are in need of family portraits, I would love to connect with you. The best way to reach out to me is through the contact form on my website. Thanks!
