Beautiful Maternity Portraits In Palo Alto | Denise
Maternity portraits are a really special moment to photograph. Especially couples who are expecting their first child. I like to think of maternity portraits as a time to take a break from maternity classes, planning baby showers, and getting the house ready for the baby. It is a time to celebrate such a special time in your life. Here are some of the images from Denise’s beautiful maternity portraits in Palo Alto at the Elizabeth Gamble Garden.
Three Tips For Your First Maternity Portrait Session
If you have never taken maternity portraits, here are three quick tips to help you get the most out of your session.
Try to schedule your session at around 36-37 weeks
The ideal time to schedule maternity portraits is going to be around 36 weeks. At this time in your pregnancy, you should be showing pretty well. And you’ll still be comfortable doing various poses. Later in your pregnancy, you’ll be a little less mobile. Another reason to schedule your session around 36 weeks is that you can reschedule your session if something comes up. In the times that I have photographed maternity portraits, I have had two instances where we had to reschedule the session and the baby ended up coming sooner than expected. Scheduling your session at 36 weeks will reduce the chances of this happening.
Bring Just A Couple of Props
For your first session, you may be inclined to bring a ton of props. I encourage just a couple of simple props – so that the focus can be on you and your partner. Two props that I would recommend are baby shoes and a sonogram. We can capture a few different poses with these and spend the rest of the session focused on you.
Schedule Your Session In The Evening
The best time for outdoor portraits is going to be in the evening. Depending on the time of the year, this may be as early as 4 PM or as late as 7:30 PM. Check with your Photographer and try to schedule your session about 60 minutes before the sun goes down. This will ensure the VERY best light of the day 🙂
