My Photography Style
When you are looking for a photographer to shoot your maternity portraits, it is important that you understand the Photographer’s style. My style leans more towards capturing fun and natural images of my couples. I think that a great image is one that captures a genuine moment. Not the perfect pose that is overly “Photoshop-ed” to appear completely unrealistic. Most of the images I deliver are those where you are not looking right into the camera. Although there will be images that we take where you are looking right into the camera, most of them will be of interactions of you and your partner.
One of the ways that I like to create fun and candid images is to simply give you a little space. I find that backing up and letting you and your partner interact naturally creates really nice images. No one likes having a camera shoved in their face!
Make The Session Your Own
An important thing to consider with maternity portraits is that it is your session. Not someone elses. You can get ideas, for outfits and poses, from images you’ve seen online – but the goal of the session is not to copy someone elses. I think this is important. A really easy way to make the session your own is to include a couple of props. Baby shoes, a sonogram, and “onesie’s” are the three most common props. Other props like a customized banner or message board are also really great ideas to use.
