Holiday Family Portraits in Morgan Hill

Holiday Family Portraits in Morgan Hill | Venita

The Holiday’s is a great time to take family portraits. For one, it is a really fun time of the year. But besides this, the fall colors really make for great portraits. Here are some of the Holiday family portraits in Morgan Hill of Venita and her family 🙂 And three of my favorite family portrait poses.

Kids Sitting, Parents Squatting

I don’t think there is an official name for this pose – but it involves the children sitting on a small box and the parents squatting. This is a really good pose to be able to have the kids hold on to you; and it brings the parents down to the kids level. Having everyone pose in a straight line is OK – but I prefer to layer everyone at different levels.

Candid and Fun Poses

The best images are those that feel natural and unposed. There are a lot of ways that you can accomplish this. With kids, getting them jumping or running or throwing leaves is a great way to do this. I believe that capturing your children’s personality is really important. They will only be young for so long and so capturing this – while it is still cool is important 🙂 If your kids are having fun, they will give genuine smiles. I like to mix in some traditional poses with some fun poses; and letting the children know that right after we take a “traditional” pose that we are going to do a really fun one. If the kids know that something fun is coming up, they will usually cooperate.

Children Standing on Something

Last but not least, I like getting images where the kids are standing on something. For some reason, they really like being as tall or taller than mom & dad. This works particularly well if your children are much small than you. You won’t have to bend down or slouch in order to put your arms around them 🙂 holiday portraits in morgan hillholiday portraits in morgan hill
