Holiday Pictures at Hellyer Park | Nhi
The Holiday season is a really fun time for portraits. At this time of year it is a little cooler. You can break out cute Holiday sweaters and scarfs – which are great for portraits. Here are some of the Holiday pictures at Hellyer Park of Nhi and her family. I will also give you two tips on how to get young children really involved and engaged in the session 🙂
Make The Session A Game
One really great idea that I actually got from a client is to make the session a game. They had two boys that were around 5 and 7. The objective of the game was for the boys to earn 10 points. For every successful pose that they did – where they were smiling and listening to instructions, they got a point. I am not sure of the prize that was given to the boys, but this really kept them engaged into the session. The parents did a really good job on making sure that they got to ten points right at the end of the session.
Let The Children Help With Poses
One of the ways that really helps keep kids engaged in the session is to let them help with poses. I do this on pretty much all of my sessions involving kids. Something as simple as asking whether they want to sit or to stand can really be helpful. For example, I may have Mom & Dad sitting on different levels of a picnic bench. I will ask the child if they want to stand next to Mommy or sit on Daddy’s lap 🙂 I will do this throughout the session; and many times the child will actually recommend places they want to pose for pictures as well.
Hopefully these are some really useful tips you can use for your own session. If you are looking for family portraits, I would love to connect with you. The best way to reach me is through the contact form on my website. Thanks!
