Vow Renewal Ceremony at Mission Santa Clara de Asís

Vow Renewal Ceremony at Mission Santa Clara de Asís | Susana & Ralph

This was my first opportunity to shoot at Mission Santa Clara de Asís. It is on the campus of Santa Clara University and is absolutely stunning! Here are some of the images we captured of Susana & Ralph’s Vow Renewal Ceremony at Mission Santa Clara de Asís in Santa Clara, CA. I will also go over three tips to consider when booking event photography.

1. The Size, of Your Event, Matters

One of the most important details about your event, that should be communicated to your Photographer, is the total number of guests that you are expecting for your event. Early in my career, I often made the mistake of not asking this question. I once shot an engagement party, of around 500 people – and was expecting no more than 50! Knowing how many guests will be at your event is really important to a Photographer. I will prepare for and plan to shoot a party with 50 guests differently than I would with a party with 200 guests. For example, if there are more than 150 guests, I would recommend having another Photographer to help cover the event. I have “second shooters” that I work with on weddings and large events and so I can have them help cover larger events.

2. Write Out All of The Posed Pictures

Another thing that you can do to make your event go as smooth as possible is to write out all of the various posed pictures you want to have photographed. By planning this ahead of time, it will ensure that none of the important posed photos are missed.

3. Plan on Things Running Behind

Last but not least, I would recommend planning on things running at least 30 minutes behind. Depending on the event, it is not uncommon for things to run a little behind. Scheduling your Photographer for 30 minutes longer than you expect is a really good idea because depending on their schedule, they may have other appointments after yours. If your party is running behind, they may not be able to stay later than the scheduled end time.

Hopefully these were some useful tips that you can consider for your next event. If you are planning a get together and would like it documented, I would love to connect with you. The best way to reach me is through the contact form on my website. Thanks!
