In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Pictures In San Jose

As the father of a now four year old, I can tell you from personal experience that the first moments of bringing your child home are the most precious. Scheduling lifestyle newborn portraits is something that you will not regret. In fact, there are many times when you’ll look back at these moments. Your child will quickly grow too big to hold in your hands. And they will transform in the matter of weeks. Documenting the first moments where you are still getting used to holding your child. Going through diaper after diaper. Feeding and burping your child; and learning the importance of a burp cloth! That is what lifestyle newborn portraits are all about 🙂 Here are some of the images from Dana’s lifestyle newborn pictures in San Jose.

Keep Things As Simple As Possible

One of the tips that I recommend for lifestyle newborn portraits is to keep things simple. Planning on a ton of different outfits, props, and poses can make things more hectic than they need to be. I recommend choosing two outfits that you’d like to photograph the baby in. Keeping things as simple as possible is important because newborns can be really unpredictable. A good portion of the session will involve keeping the baby calm, feeding them, changing their diapers, etc. If the baby is a little fussy, it may be difficult to get pictures in more than a couple of outfits.

Help Prepare The Older Children Before The Session, Set Realistic Expectations For Them

Some of the most adorable pictures are of the newborn baby and their siblings. If your child is between the ages of 2-5, I recommend preparing them for a couple of poses a few days before the session. If you let them know that you are excited for the session, and practice a couple of poses with them beforehand – there is a good chance they will be excited to pose for pictures on the day of the session. But make sure to set realistic expectations 🙂 Keeping the newborn calm and getting their siblings to cooperate can be really hard. Providing incentives for taking good pictures with the baby can entice good behavior as well!
