Lifestyle Newborn Portraits In Campbell | Sujwala

Lifestyle newborn portraits are some of the most precious moments that I get to capture. This style of photography aims to capture moments of you and the baby in-and-around your home. I LOVE these types of images because they are less about capturing the most perfectly posed images. But more about the interactions between you, the baby, and the rest of the family. Here are some of the lifestyle newborn portraits in Campbell of Sujwala. As well as four tips to keep your baby comfortable during the session.
Keep The Room As Warm As Possible
First and foremost, you want to keep the house as warm as possible. A typical home may be around 70 degrees or so โ but you want to bump this up to at least 80. If you are able to control the temperature in just the room that the baby is in, that would be ideal. Otherwise, a space heater works really well. Keeping the room warm is especially important in poses where the baby is in little or no clothes.
White Noise Keeps Babies Calm

Along with keeping the baby warm, playing a little white noise is key. White noise simulates the noises that the baby was used to when they were still in mommyโs tummy. There are a lot of phone apps that play white noise. And I believe that there are even toys with it built into it. If white noise is not available, instrumental music also works ๐
Wrap Them In A Really Tight Swaddle

Wrapping the baby in a really tight swaddle also goes a long way. If you are a first time parent, you may not have too much experience swaddling. The key is to make it REALLY tight. Most babies will wiggle right out of a loose swaddle without a problem. So making it way tighter than you think is important ๐
Make Sure They Have A Full Tummy
Last but not least, making sure the baby has a full tummy will keep them calm. If you can start feeding them around 30 minutes before the start of the session, this should be perfect timing. Babies who have a full stomach tend to cooperate really well ๐
Hopefully these are some really great tips to keep the baby nice and calm for their portraits. If you are expecting a baby, or just added one to the family โ I would love to connect. The best way to reach me is through the contact form on my website. Thanks!
