Maternity Photos At The Elizabeth Gamble Garden

The Elizabeth Gamble Garden, In Palo Alto, is one of my favorite locations for maternity portraits. It has everything you’d want in a location! Here are some of the images we captured of Nanda’s maternity photos at the Elizabeth Gamble Garden. As well as three reasons why the Elizabeth Gamble Garden is such a great location 🙂

There Is Plenty of Shade – So You Can Shoot Here At Any Time

Perhaps the most common misconception with photography is that the more light, the better. In almost every circumstance, this is not the case. I will not go into all of the details – but shade is very soft, flattering light. Direct sunlight is the exact opposite. It creates very harsh, unflattering lighting – which is not ideal for portraits. The great thing about the Elizabeth Gamble Garden is that there is plenty of shade. The shade creates areas where you can pose and have great light at any time of the day 🙂

Lots of Different Structures And Levels To Pose With

Another feature of a great location is the availability of different places to pose. The Elizabeth Gamble Garden has benches, stairs, and bricked pathways to sit on. It also has trees and physical structures that you can lean up against, etc. Having a bunch of different structures and levels makes it easy to get a variety of poses.

There Are Beautiful Colors Everywhere

Of course, the main feature of the Elizabeth Gamble Garden is that there are so many colorful flowers and plants. This is especially the case in the Spring. The beautiful colors were very complimentary to Nanda’s red and blue dresses. If you are looking for a location with a ton of bright colors – this is the perfect location!

PRO TIP: Another great thing about the Elizabeth Gamble is that it does not require a photography permit. MANY places will not allow you to take professional portraits without paying for a permit beforehand.

If you are expecting an addition to your family and would like to take maternity portraits, I’d love to hear from you! The best way to reach me is through the contact form on my website. Thanks!
