Fun Senior Portraits In Capitola

Fun Senior Portraits In Capitola | Jada

fun senior portraits in capitola

One of my favorite places to take portraits of is in Capitola. I have a secret location where there are really nice train tracks that are surrounded by a wooded area. And then the Capitola Wharf is just down the street. With most senior portraits, there are at least two outfits that kids will wear. And I have found the mixture of the images taken in the wooded area have a great contrast to the beach shots. Here are some of the fun senior portraits in Capitola of Jada. As well as what I liked most from her session ๐Ÿ™‚

Balancing On The Railroad Tracks

One of my most favorite parts of the session came at the very beginning. Instead of having Jada walk on the inside of the tracks, I had her balance on the edge. She was actually pretty good at it and so we switched it up a little and had her do it backwards. This got some really fun and genuine reactions out of Jada. And these are some of my favorite images ๐Ÿ™‚ Anytime you can get people to laugh naturally, the images are much better than a forced expression.

Shots Among The Trees, Using Cut Tree Logs

Some other really nice images came when we took some images with the trees in the background. The trees were just far enough in the background that they were out of focus. And I really liked the look of the background in these images.

Another really cool thing about this location are the cut tree logs. They make it really easy to pose. You can either sit on them, or you can get some shots with your back up against them. Having a location where there are many different posing options makes the session a little easier to move around and make use of many different areas ๐Ÿ™‚

Getting Our Feet In The Water

If you take pictures at the beach, walking along the edge of the water is a must! Most people walk just close enough โ€“ so that they do not get wet. Some of the best images were actually when Jada decided to get even closer to the water. The moments right after the water came up to her ankles โ€“ were another great series of images ๐Ÿ™‚

The Capitola Wharf is also great because of the different backgrounds. You have shots under the pier; shots with the colorful buildings in the background; and we also got a few shots on this cement strip that Iโ€™d never seen before.
