In Home Family Portraits In San Jose

In Home Family Portraits In San Jose | Dana

Most of the family portrait sessions I shoot are outdoors. But in home family portraits can also be a great option for families. Especially families with small children. Your home is where you and your family spend a lot of time. And it can be a really great setting for family portraits. Here are some examples of the in home family portraits in San Jose of Dana and her wonderful family. As well as three tips to think about when scheduling portraits in your home 🙂

1. Keep The Session Fun And Candid

One of the main reasons to schedule in home portraits is because of the sentimental value of your home. You spend a lot of quality time here and the session should be focused on things you love doing in your home. This can mean different things for different families. For example, you may really enjoy making coffee in the morning and sitting down and watching TV. Or like Dana and her family, reading books in the living room was something they loved doing. If your family has small children, playing with their toys is a great way to get fun and natural expressions. And of course, including pets is also great. They are a big part of the family to!

2. Make Sure To Get Pictures In A Few Areas Of The House

Since the location will be held in a relatively small place, compared to an outdoor location, we will have a lot of time. In this time, we can plan on getting pictures in a couple of different rooms. And depending on the time of the day, we can also get shots in the front and/or back yard.

3. For Outside Shots, Choose A Time Of The Day When It Is Shaded

If you plan on getting outdoor shots, make sure to schedule the session at a time when these areas are mostly shaded. If your house has tall trees, there is a good chance that most times of the day will work just fine. Before scheduling the session, take a peek outside to see how the light is. Just remember: the more shade – the better, and choose areas where you will not be looking directly into the sun 😉
