What To Wear For Senior Portraits

Three Ideas On What To Wear For Senior Portraits

Senior portraits are one of the many things High School seniors should put on their checklists of things to do for their final year. Every high school senior will take the traditional studio portraits for the yearbook. But I also recommend scheduling outdoor senior portraits as well. These tend to be more fun and can do a better job showing their personality. One of the main things to consider is what to wear 😉 Here are three ideas on what to wear for senior portraits.

Jeans And A T-Shirt Are Great For A Casual Look

One of the traditional outfit for senior portraits is jeans and a t-shirt. This is really great for more casual portraits. When it comes to posing, jeans are a little more versatile than dress clothes. When you are wearing jeans, it is easier to sit on the ground, squat down, and move around for different poses. Starting the session in something that they are comfortable and confident in is also important 😉

Something Semi-Dressy Is Also A Good Idea

Part way through the session, we can plan on switching to something a little more formal. I find that getting a handful of poses in dress clothes can really compliment the more casual images.

I Recommend Incorporating An Outfit Associated With Your High School/College Or An Extracurricular Activity

Lastly, another fun outfit idea is to incorporate their high school, new college, or an extracurricular activity that they enjoy. If they play sports, you can also bring along a ball or other equipment to use for some fun and candid shots. These are some of the most favorite shots of the entire session, for high school seniors.

Lastly, I love to get ideas from my clients on poses that they want to incorporate. During the session, I will have various different poses – but some of the most natural and candid images come from ideas I get directly from clients. It is easy to get natural, fun smiles from these shots.
