Outfits To Wear For Family Portraits

Outfits To Wear For Family Portraits | Kristina’s Family Portraits

When it comes to your session, choosing outfits to wear for family portraits does not need to be too difficult. If you are able to coordinate outfits, this is great. But do not stress over it 🙂 The most important part of family portraits is capturing fun and candid images. And coordinating outfits is just icing on the cake 😉 Here are a few ideas which have worked well for some of my past clients

Ladies/Girls Choose One Color Men/Boys Choose Another

One of the ideas that has worked well for clients is to choose one color for the ladies and another for the guys. The colors of the outfits do not have to be an exact match for everyone. For example, choosing a shade of blue – rather than “royal” blue. Natural colors like blue or brown work well for outdoor portraits.

Adults Wear One Color And Kids Wear Another Color

Similar to choosing different outfits for the guys and gals, you can choose outfits for the kids and for the adults. For example, the children can wear green and the adults can wear blue 🙂

Matching Outfits For The Little Ones

One idea that I think is REALLY cute is having the kids wear matching outfits. This may take a little more coordination on everyone’s part. But I think it is adorable 🙂 These are pictures that will be even more fun as time goes by. When it is time for them to get married, these pictures should definitely make the slideshow!

A Quick Change Into Something Fun

Last but not least, I like when families take the majority of their images in one outfit and then they switch to a fun outfit at the end of the session. I have seen many variations of this in the past. I remember when one family had their younger children unbutton their shirts to reveal super hero shirts. And I have had a few families wear the sports jersey of their favorite team 🙂

There are many ideas you can choose from, when it comes to outfits. Hopefully these four examples can give you some ideas on outfits to wear for family portraits! If you are looking to schedule your own family portrait session, I would love to connect with you!
