Family Portrait Locations In Los Gatos – Vasona Park

One of my favorite family portrait locations in Los Gatos is Vasona Park. For first-time clients, I will typically recommend this location for the session. Here are four reasons why Vasona Park is an excellent choice for family portraits.

The Lighting Is Great At Most Times of The Day

One of the most important factors in portraits is the quality of the light. For family portraits, having soft lighting conditions makes for flattering portraits. Soft light is mostly found when the sun is low in the sky (sunrise/sunset) and also where there is open shade. The great thing about Vasona Park is that there are many areas with open shade.

There Are A Variety of Different Backgrounds

Another feature that makes Vasona Park one of my favorite family portrait locations in Los Gatos is that there are many different backgrounds. Vasona Park has pretty much everything you’d want for portraits. Green grass and trees, a lake, miniature railroad tracks, and a large bridge. As well as amenities like water fountains and restrooms placed throughout the park. Having all of these different options gives clients a wide variety of options for pictures.

Vasona Park Is Pet Friendly

If you have pets that you’d like to include in some of the portraits, Vasona Park is pet friendly 🙂 Not every park allows pets and so this is my go-to location for family portraits with pets. If you plan on including pets in some of the images, we can plan on starting or ending the session with shots that include your furry kids 🙂 And then they can be placed in the car, with the windows rolled down, or secured to something nearby.

Vasona Park is Great For Kids

Last but not least, scheduling family portraits at Vasona Park is a great option for portraits with kids. In my experience, kids do best when there is a lot of space for them to move around. If your child is a little shy at first, I like to back up really far and use a telephoto lens. This makes them more comfortable; and most locations within Vasona Park allow for me to back up and get these types of shots. Also, after the session is done, you can take kids to one of the playgrounds at the park or even on a train or carousel ride on the weekends 😉
