What Make For Good Black and White Wedding Photos?

Four Elements That Make For Beautiful Black and White Wedding Photos

There is something about certain black and white wedding photos that just looks “right.” When you take away the color from an image, it draws your focus on the emotions of the image. Wedding photography is naturally full of emotions and so black and white wedding images are perfect for this style. Here are my top four elements that make for beautiful black and white wedding photos 🙂

Your Eyes Can Tell A Story

From the time we are kids, we naturally look at people’s eyes to translate emotions. The same goes for photographs. One of the best elements of a beautiful black and white wedding photo is what the couple is doing with their eyes. And your eyes can tell a great story. In some instances this can be a genuine show of affection. But it can also be when you and your partner both have your eyes closed.

Natural Moments of Emotion Between The Couple

Moments of laughter between a couple make for really genuine and emotional black and white wedding photos. By stripping away the color from the image, it almost freezes the moment in time. Other emotions like tears of joy can also create really beautiful images!

Close Up Detail Shots

I really like the look of close up detail shots in black and white. Your wedding rings symbolize your wedding day and black and white detail shots do a great job capturing this. One of my favorite poses for black and white ring shots are of the couple holding hands and showing their rings.

If You Can Pull Off A “Cool” Pose

Lastly, really COOL photos look great in black and white! But not everyone can pull it off 🙂 If you have a pair of shades or can just pull off the GQ kind of look – black and white images make these poses look even better!

The great thing about digital photography is that you can easily turn a color image to black and white. With black and white film photography, this is not the case. Out of the images I deliver to my wedding clients, I would say around 5% of them are black and white… if you are looking for a Wedding Photographer, I would love to connect with you!
