Corporate events are a lot of fun! Everyone is dressed up, the drinks are flowing, and there are a lot of opportunities to get some really great images. Here are some of the images we captured for New York Life. As well as my approach to capturing corporate event photography at the Ranch at Silver Creek.

Although most of the images that I capture for events will be candid, I also like to get posed pictures. Often times I will ask people to pose for a quick picture. But there are many times when people ask for their pictures taken as well.

Close Up Detail Images

Another thing I like to do is to get close up detail images. In my experience, getting a mixture of wide images, medium range images, and close up images helps tell the story of the event.

Candid Images of Everyone Having Fun

When I shoot events, the majority of the events are candid ones. I like to capture these types of images by being as far away as possible. In my experience, the further away I am from what is going on – the better. People generally do not show genuine reactions when they notice that the camera is focused on them 😉

Group Portraits Outside

Whenever possible, I also like to get group portraits of people outside. For the event at the Ranch at Silver Creek, there was a beautiful view of the city lights that worked well. Depending on the timing of the event, getting images as the sun is setting as also a great option.

Pictures of People Taking Pictures

Some other fun images to take are of people taking pictures. These days, cell phones are the #1 cameras people have and so I like to capture people having fun taking pictures with their phones 🙂 At this event, they also had a photo booth set up and so getting pictures of the photo booth were fun as well.
