How To Throw A Kid’s Birthday Party At Your Home

How To Throw A Kid’s Birthday Party At Your Home | 7 Tips

Kid’s birthday parties can be a lot of fun! But it takes a lot of planning 🙂 Here are 7 tips on how to throw a kid’s birthday party at your home.

If It Is In The Backyard, Make Good Use of The Shade

If you are planning your party in the backyard, shade is you best friend. As much as possible, place the cake and other important things in the shade. It will keep you and your guests cool and shade is the best lighting for pictures. If there is not a lot of shade in your backyard, another option is to have the sun to your back. This will also ensure that the pictures come out the best 😉

Hire A Photographer For The Most Important Parts

Of course, you’ll want to hire an event Photographer! Sure – you can probably snap a few decent pictures on your phone. But a professional Photographer SHOULD be able to take better pictures than you can on a smart phone. And it will take the stress off of your shoulders. You should be able to relax and enjoy your party without also having to take pictures 🙂

Book An Interesting Food Vendor

Another thing I highly recommend is hiring a cool food vendor. Mamta and her family hired Brittany Crepes and this was EXCELLENT! The crepes were a hit with all of the guests and they were incredibly tasty!

Have Activities For The Kids

One of the most important things you can do is to have activities for the kids to do. Mamta and her family had a plant/flower growing theme and it worked really well. It taught the kids how to plant flowers and it is an activity that they can watch grow for weeks to come. I really liked this theme for the kids 🙂

Give The Kid’s Something To Take Home

You will also want to have something for the kids to take home with them. For the plant themed party, the kids were able to take home their physical plant – but there were also “goodie bags” with shovels and other fun items 🙂

For Smaller Kids, Keep The Party Under Two Hours

In my experience, kids birthday parties should last about 1.5-2 hours. After this, the kids start to get a little antsy or bored! I recommend cutting the cake about half way through the event – or once everyone has had a chance to arrive. The rest of the party can be dedicated to mingling with guests and eating 😉

Make Cute Shirts For You And The Birthday Boy/Girl

Last – but not least, creating cute shirts is a good touch. You can make the shirts for the entire family or just one shirt for the birthday boy/girl.
