How To Take A Great Headshot

How To Take A Great Headshot | Three Ideas On How To Take Your Best Headshot

Headshots are a must for any business person. Your headshot should be updated regularly and it should be compelling. Here are three tips on how to take a great headshot.

Plan Your Outfit Beforehand

One of the things I recommend is to plan your outfit a day or so before the session. Depending on the type of job you have, your attire should match. If your job has more of a casual atmosphere, wearing a suite and tie may not be the best. If there are other examples of people who have taken headshots for your company, I would use these as a baseline… having a solid outfit planned out will give you confidence that you look great and are going to take a great headshot!

NEVER Psych Yourself Out Before You Take The Headshot

Perhaps the most important thing you can do is to not psych yourself out before any images have been taken. Sure – anyone can take a “bad” picture. But coming into the session with a positive attitude will ensure that you take the best possible headshot.

Be Open To Having Fun And Being Lighthearted

Lastly, I recommend being open to having fun and being lighthearted. In my experience, there are VERY few people who come in and need little or no instructions or prompts. Most people seem to open up when we make the session conversational. And this sometimes requires me to ask questions or give prompts 🙂 Being open minded is a good idea to get the best possible headshot 🙂
