What Boys Should Wear For Senior Portraits | How To Plan
Senior portraits are a must for any soon-to-be high school graduate. They can be used for graduation invitations, presents to friends and family. And of course they can be used to post on social media. When it comes to boys, their outfits may be a little different than girls. So here are a few ideas on planning the session, and my thoughts on what boys should wear for senior portraits.
Let Mom/Dad Choose One Outfit
In my experience, senior portraits are mostly for Mom & Dad! With that being said, choosing one or two outfits that the parents want to have is important 🙂 Chances are, everyone will not be on the same page with what outfits to wear – so it is important to include outfits that each person likes 🙂
Make Sure To Choose A Casual Outfit and Shoes That Go With It
I also recommend bringing along a casual outfit for a few of the shots. Casual can mean jeans and a t-shirt or even shorts and flip flops. Making sure to brings something that you feel comfortable squatting in, sitting on the ground, etc. is important.
Tie In Some of Your Extracurricular Activities
If your High Schooler participates in any extracurricular activities, make sure to bring something that goes along with it. If they play sports, it can be as simple as a baseball or basketball. But if they have a uniform or outfit that also goes along with it, that would be perfect! For example, a Letterman’s jacket.
At Least One “Dressy” Outfit As Well
Last but not least, picking a dressy or semi-dressy outfit is recommended. Having a wide variety of outfits makes sure that all bases are covered 🙂 With boys, they can quickly change from one outfit to the next and so three or four outfits is totally fine.
Along with the outfits, make sure to bring anything that is needed to manage their hair. And shoes that go with each outfit… for the session, I also like to have parents come along for the session. I will use you to get natural expressions out of them 😉 If you want, you are also more than welcome to participate in a few pictures at the end of the session as well!
