How to Plan A Backyard Wedding

How To Plan A Backyard Wedding | Four Suggestions

Backyard weddings are great for small, intimate weddings – but they take a little planning πŸ™‚ Here are four suggestions on how to plan a backyard wedding.

Consider Having A First Look

If you are planning on having a wedding at your home (or someone else’s) – it may be a good idea to see each other before the ceremony. One of the most popular wedding trends is called a first look. This is where you schedule a moment to see each other for the first time. For backyard weddings, I especially recommend this if you are both getting ready at the house. Keeping both of you separate for an extended period of time, in the same space, can be a challenge. And if not planned properly, you may have an accidental first look that you did not plan for.

Take Most or All of the Posed Photos Before Guests Arrive

I also recommend taking all or most of the posed photos before the start of the ceremony. This is especially crucial – if your backyard will be where most of the guests will be congregating after the ceremony. It’ll be tough to choose a good location for photos and it may also be hard to keep people out of the background of the images πŸ™‚ If there happens to not be a great place for these photos, I would also consider taking the formal photos at a park nearby πŸ˜‰

Take Advantage of The Entire Home

If there is enough space, I recommend using multiple areas of the home. Having the entire wedding in one confined area can be a little hard to manage – so having areas inside of the house is a good idea.

Pick A Great Local Catering Company

One of the advantages of having a wedding at your home – is that you have more catering options. Some of the best restaurants do not offer catering for large parties – but they can accommodate smaller weddings. You can even have multiple companies providing food for the wedding. And I have also seen some home cooked dishes that turned out really well πŸ™‚

Backyard weddings can be some of the most intimate weddings! Hopefully these four tips on how to plan a backyard wedding have been helpful πŸ™‚
