Engagement Portraits In Palo Alto | Elizabeth Gamble Garden
One of my favorite places for engagement portraits in Palo Alto is the Elizabeth Gamble Garden. It is one of the best garden locations in the area and it makes for a lot of great images. Here are some of the images from Andrea’s session – as well as three ways I get fun and candid engagement portraits.
Keep The Session Conversational
One of the best ways that I capture fun and candid engagement portraits is by keeping the session conversational. In my experience, when you and your partner are focused on each other – this allows for genuine expressions. One of the ways I try to do this is by asking questions. For example, I may ask you to tell me about your first date. Or to whisper something in your partner’s ear. Taking this approach makes the images a lot more fun than saying, “1-2-3 CHEESE.”
Giving You Some Space Makes Things More Comfortable
Another way that I like to capture fun and candid images is by giving you and your partner a little space. In my experience, people feel more comfortable when the Photographer is further away. No one really likes a camera up close and in their face 🙂 It’s a little awkward!
By shooting a little further away, I am also able to capture images more creatively. One of my favorite ways to do this is by having plants, flowers, or other things in the foreground of the image. This creates a sense of intimacy in your images 😉 And the Elizabeth Gamble Garden is full of beautiful plants and flowers for these types of images.
Take A Little Stroll
Lastly, another way to get fun and candid engagement portraits is by having you and your partner walk. This is something that you are probably used to doing. And it is really easy to get natural looking images.
If you like the style of Andrea’s engagement portraits in Palo Alto, I would love to connect with you. The best way to reach me is through a quick email. Or through the contact form on my website. Thanks!
