Maternity Portraits At The Municipal Rose Garden

Lyda’s Sunset Maternity Portraits At The Municipal Rose Garden

With maternity portraits, timing is everything! The VERY best time to take outdoor portraits is typically in the hour or so before the sun sets. The lighting is soft and flattering for portraits. And the color of the light is really bright and vibrant. This is often referred to as Golden Hour Here are some examples of the sunset maternity portraits at the Municipal Rose Garden of Lyda and her family. As well as a few things to consider when scheduling portraits here.

Weekday Evenings Are The Best Time For Portraits

Since the Municipal Rose Garden is a really popular place, I recommend scheduling the session on a weekday. Weekday evenings tend to be a lot less busy than weekdays. Scheduling the session when there are less people around ensures that there are not too many people in the background. And in my experience, it is more comfortable for clients when there are less people around. Lyda’s maternity portraits were taken during the week and it worked out great 🙂

Keep In Mind That There Is A Permit Required To Take Pictures Here

Another thing to consider is that there, technically, is a photo permit required to take professional pictures at the Rose Garden. In my experience, this is not overly enforced – but you never really know. When scheduling portraits here, I like to keep a back up plan just in case. There is actually another great location down the street (Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum) that the session can be moved to if we run into trouble 😉

Wearing Something Floral Goes Really Well With The Roses

Last but not least, I really like the look of outfits which incorporate roses or the colors of the roses in the garden. There are all types of different roses throughout the garden and matching your outfit with them is a great idea. For example, you can choose to wear a red dress or a light colored dress with flowers on them. Another great idea is a floral crown. These can be found at many stores online – like Etsy.
