Fun And Candid Anniversary Portraits

Fun And Candid Anniversary Portraits In Los Gatos | Rachel & Joe

If you are celebrating an anniversary, this is one of the best times to take portraits. Pretty much any time you are celebrating a meaningful life moment is a GREAT time for portraits πŸ™‚ And the good thing is that they are a lot easier and more fun than you think! Here are some of the fun and candid anniversary portraits of Rachel & Joe! As well as three things I try to do to make the session lighthearted and fun.

I Focus On Capturing Moments Rather Than Over Posing You

Perhaps the main way I create fun and candid anniversary portraits is by not over posing you. There are a handful of images where you and your partner will be looking at the camera – but I prefer capturing candid moments. And it involves very little posing! In my experience working with couples, most people do not prefer overly posed images. So this is not what we focus on πŸ™‚ I will ask you questions, give you silly things to do to make the images look as natural as possible!

Provide An Opportunity To Interact And Have Fun With Each Other – Without Having To Stare Into The Camera

Along these same lines, I like to focus on you interacting with your partner. There are many ways that I do this. For example, I may have you re-tell your engagement story to each other. If it is a good story, this can make for some really fun and natural images. I won’t tell you all of the ways that I do this – but I try as hard as possible to not have you staring with a blank face into the camera πŸ™‚

I Like To Give You As Much Space As Possible – So That You Feel Comfortable

One of the other things I like to do, to make you and your partner feel comfortable, is give you a little space. In my experience, people feel the most comfortable when a camera is not shoved in their face πŸ™‚ For example, walking shots. Getting natural and candid reactions is best when there is a little distance between you and the camera.

Everyone Is Welcome For The Session!

Lastly, no matter what type of session – everyone is welcome. If you have furry babies, friends, and other family members that you want to include in the session – they are more than welcome πŸ˜‰ One of the things I ALWAYS recommend is to bring friends or family along with you to help out during the session. For Rachel and Joe, they brought their friends to help with the pups while they were not in the pictures. The same works well with babies πŸ˜‰

If you are celebrating an important life moment, I would love to be there to celebrate with you. The best way to reach me is through a quick email or through the contact form on my website. Thanks!
