When To Schedule Maternity Portraits | Three Things To Keep In Mind
Expecting a child is an exciting time for you and your family! And important life milestones like this should definitely be celebrated with portraits π But when should they be scheduled? Here are three things to keep in mind on when to schedule maternity portraits.
Make Sure To Consider The Season
First and foremost, you will want to consider the season that your maternity portraits will be shot in. When it comes to photography, there are months in the year that are busier than others. And there are also certain months that the weather may not be as predictable. For example, the months of October and November are the busiest months of the year for portraits. And September is a busy months for weddings.
If you are expecting, I recommend scheduling the session at least a few weeks in advance. This is especially the case if you plan on having your session in one of the months that are busier than normal π
Around 36 Weeks β But Not Too Early
In my experience, around 36 weeks or a little sooner is a great time to schedule your session. If you happen to be βshowingβ sooner in your pregnancy, you can schedule the session then.
Scheduling your maternity portraits around 36 weeks, you will still be comfortable to walk around and pose for portraits. But you also want to make sure not to schedule them too soon before you are showing π For the portraits, we want to be able to see the full shape of your βbaby bump.β
Prepare For Unexpected Changes
Lastly, I would also plan for unexpected changes. When you are pregnant, there may be days where you are not feeling well. Or the weather may not be ideal for an outdoor session. And there may be a slight chance that the baby arrives well in advance of your due date. Timing your session well in advance of your due date can ensure that we can adjust the session if we need to π
