How to Have a Safe Covid-19 Wedding

Four Suggestions on How to Have a Safe Covid-19 Wedding

Covid-19 has affected nearly every service related industry. It has had a pretty substantial impact on the event industry and I have seen a shift in wedding photography as well. Many couples are choosing to postpone their wedding until 2021 – but for those couples who are choosing to have their wedding in 2020, there are some things to keep in mind. Here are four things to keep in and how to have a safe Covid-19 wedding.

Check The Requirements With Your Venue

One of the most important things you can do to have a safe Covid-19 wedding is to check with your venue on any requirements. This is important because each county has different requirements. And certain venues may have other requirements on top of this. For example, the amount of people allowed to be present at the ceremony. Or if masks are required for the entire ceremony. You and your partner will want to make sure that all of the requirements to hold the ceremony are clearly spelled out.

If Possible, Connect With Friends And Family Through Zoom

Since most weddings during Covid-19 will be limited to a small group of people, a good idea is to broadcast your ceremony on Zoom. This may take a little coordination but it is something that a lot of your friends and family will appreciate.

Schedule Couple Portraits At A Separate Venue

Another thing that I would recommend is to schedule couple and family portraits. If the venue where your ceremony is taking place has a good backdrop for portraits, you could take them there. But if not, I recommend doing them elsewhere. If possible, I would do these before the ceremony.

Do It Again When Things Get Back To Normal

Lastly, I recommend getting everyone together once things get back to normal. This can be in the form of a larger party that includes your friends, family, and co-workers. And it can include some of the traditional parts of your wedding that we originally skipped. For example, your first dance, cake cutting, and bouquet and garter tosses. Unfortunately, many of the “traditional” wedding festivities are just not possible during Covid-19. But this does not mean that you have to skip out on it altogether. Keep your friends and family up-to-date on what you are planning and make sure to do it all again!

Just because Covid-19 has caused many aspects of the wedding industry to shut down does not mean that you cannot have a great wedding experience. Make sure that you are aware of all of the requirements, connect with everyone through Zoom, take couple and family portraits at a separate venue if possible, and plan another party once things get back to normal. Hopefully these tips on how to have a safe Covid-19 wedding have been useful 🙂
