Maternity Portraits at the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve

Maternity Portraits at the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve in Los Altos

There are a lot of locations that photograph REALLY well. The Redwood Grove Nature Preserve is definitely one of them! This was the very first session I had at this location. And it came as a recommendation from my client 🙂 Here are some of the maternity portraits at the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve that was captured. As well as my first impression about the location.

BEAUTIFUL Redwood Trees – But A Small Area

The main attraction to the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve is its BEAUTIFUL redwood trees! This is a look that is unique to California and it makes for really nice portraits. Although there are many different hiking trails, I noticed that there is a limited area to take pictures. There are more than enough areas to move around for a 30 minute session. However, 60 minutes may be a little too much time.

Limited Parking And No Restrooms Close By

When you arrive to the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve, you’ll naturally want to drive down a small hill that leads to the park. But this is more of a walkway and does not lead to a parking lot. Parking is limited to nearby residential parking only. Also, there are no restrooms nearby. If you plan on changing into another outfit, changing in the car may be your only option. And this may take 15 minutes or more and will take away time from your session. If you are planning on taking maternity portraits at the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve, this is something to keep in mind.

Not Too Busy

Another really good thing about this location is that it is not too busy. In my experience, people feel the most comfortable when there are not too many people around. Other than the occasional hiker, not too many people hung around where we took pictures. There are a lot of trails to hike and most of the visitors continued on to these areas.

Overall, A GREAT Place For Maternity Portrait

Overall, the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve is great for maternity portraits! I would limit the session to about 30 minutes and keep in mind that there is limited parking and no restrooms… the redwood trees, beautiful lighting, and different areas where you can pose for pictures make it a great choice for maternity portraits!

If you are planning on taking maternity portraits at the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve, I think you will really like it! Thanks 🙂
