Outdoor Headshots in Campbell β How to pick the best location for your outdoor portraits
Is it time to update your headshots? No problem π Here are some examples of the recent outdoor headshots in Campbell I took for Pediatrix. As well as a few things to consider when scheduling outdoor headshots.
Make Sure Professional Portraits Are Allowed
First and foremost, you will want to make sure that professional portraits are allowed. Many of the best places for portraits require a photography permit. If you have a location in mind, make sure to touch base with the location beforehand. Often times, a phone call to the venue will be all that is needed. However, many places do require a photo permit. If you are not familiar with some outdoor locations, your Photographer may have a few locations in mind.
The More Shade The Better
In terms of lighting, the more shade the better! One of the most common misconceptions on lighting is that you want as much light as possible. While sunlight is great, direct sunlight tends to be harsh and unflattering. Shade creates less shadows and make for more flattering headshots. Your photographer can bring lighting to be able to balance out the background π Also, you will want to make sure that you are not looking directly into the sun. This can cause unwanted squinting in your images.
Places With Not a Lot of People in The Background
Lastly, I recommend scheduling the session where there are not too many people around. Not only will this allow for the background to be free of people βphoto bombing,β but in my experience, people are most comfortable when there are no onlookers hanging out π If people are unavoidable, your Photographer can edit this out on the back end. However, your Photographer will appreciate the less time editing your images after the session ends.
If you are looking to schedule your own outdoor headshots, hopefully you have found these tips to be helpful. Thanks!
