If you are looking for a unique place for family portraits, Bernal Ranch Park is a great place to consider! It has a very rustic feel to it and it is the only white barn location that I am familiar with. When scheduling portraits at Bernal Ranch Park, I recommend coordinating your outfits to compliment the location. The casual brown and yellow outfits that Luckshiny and her family chose worked perfect! When choosing family portrait outfits, I also recommend wearing something that you feel comfortable walking, sitting, and squatting down in. Many of the poses that I use are candid and involve movement and so wearing a comfortable outfit is recommended 😉

The Lighting Is Good at Most Times of The Day

One of the most important elements to a GREAT portrait is the lighting. Soft, flattering light works the best for outdoor portraits. And Bernal Ranch Park has plenty of great light! Ideally, scheduling your session in the early morning or in the evening is the best. However, scheduling your session at a location with plenty of shade can enable you to take pictures in the afternoon as well. Bernal Ranch Park has plenty of shade – so if the afternoon works best for your schedule, this works fine 😉

Not Too Many People Know About This Location

Another great thing about Bernal Ranch Park is that it is never too busy. Most people who visit the park are there to exercise on some of the nearby trails. The barn area and the house front are typically clear of people. Scheduling your session at a location without crowds work well for people who do not want a lot of people watching you take pictures 😉

Convenient And Easy To Get To

Last but not least, Bernal Ranch Park is easy to get to. It is located just a mile or so from the freeway in an area of South San Jose that is not too busy. It is also convenient because it has free parking and other amenities such as water fountains and restrooms. If you plan on quickly changing clothes, having a restroom to change in makes this pretty seemless.
