Senior Portraits At Bernal Ranch Park – My Approach to Bringing Out Your Child’s Personality In Senior Portraits!

I believe that portraits should be fun, candid, and feel unposed. This is especially the case with Senior Portraits. Here are some recent senior portraits at Bernal Ranch Park. As well as a look at my approach to capturing fun and candid portraits that capture your child’s personality 😉

Keeping The Session Fun And Candid

In my experience, most people feel comfortable when the poses are less “posed” and more candid. I shoot senior portraits in a style that is lighthearted, conversational and laid back. For many of the poses, I may ask a question and snap the picture when your child reacts. My goal is to take the focus off of taking pictures and capture images where they are just having fun.

Bring Along A Friend, Sibling, or Parent

Perhaps the best way to keep the session fun and candid is to bring along a friend, sibling, or parent. I may ask a parent to describe something about their child or give me some insight into their personality. And I may also ask them a question about the friend, sibling, or parent that came along to the session.

I LOVE Using Poses That Incorporate Movement

Another way to keep the session fun and bring out your child’s personality is by getting them moving. I may have them walk and sing a song. Or I might have them do a spin or jump. In my experience, people feel a little more comfortable doing moving poses than stationary poses.

I Am Flexible With Poses And Outfits

Last but not least, I like to be flexible. Often times, I will ask if there are any poses or ideas that you’d like to incorporate. If you have no ideas on poses – no problem. I can guide you through the entire session. but I also believe that it is important to include poses that come from you 😉

Hopefully these posing ideas have given you a little more insight into how I like to take senior portraits. Thanks!
