What To Do With Your Family Portraits – Five Things To Do After Receiving Your Final Images

what to do with your family portraits

So you’ve gone through all of the steps to schedule family portraits. The session went great, and you’ve received the final images. Now what?! Here are five ideas on what to do with your family portraits 🙂

Back Up Your Images

First and foremost, you will want to back up your family portraits. Most Photographers will provide you with an online gallery – where the images can be viewed. I recommend checking whether or not this website will expire. If so, make sure to download all of the images and save them in multiple places. Even if your online gallery from your Photographer does not expire, it is still a good idea to save the images elsewhere. I recommend saving the images in three places: your computer (for easy access), a cloud storage website (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), and an external hard drive or USB.

Make Prints

When trying to figure out what to do with your family portraits, I also recommend making physical prints. Prints are a great way to decorate your home and office. And they can also be used as gifts to family members.

Prepare Your Holiday Cards Early

One of the most popular things to do with your family portraits is to create and order Holiday cards. If you are planning on sending these out, I recommend getting everything coordinated way in advance. That way, everything is created and ready to go for the Holidays. Websites such as Shutterfly typically have great sales throughout the year (Black Friday, etc.), and so waiting for the sales to come up and already having your cards ready to go is a great game plan.

Post Them Online To Celebrate Milestones

Another great thing to do with your images is to post them online to celebrate yearly milestones. If you have children, posting them on their birthday is a creative idea. And you can also post images from the session to celebrate an anniversary 😉

Create A Yearly Album

Last but not least, I also recommend creating a yearly family photo album. These are things that you will look back at for years to come. And it is a great way of documenting fun things you do with your family throughout the year. As your children get older, these can be passed down to them to look back on.

Hopefully these five tips on what to do with your family portraits have been helpful. Thanks!
