Event Photography at Saratoga Country Club – 4 Helpful Tips On Planning Your Event With Photography In Mind

Planning a milestone celebration can have a lot of moving parts. One of the first items to check off of your list is the location. There are many great locations that you can plan an event. I recently had the opportunity to take event photography at Saratoga Country Club. Here are some of the images as well as four tips to help you plan your event with photography in mind.
1. Book An Event Space With Adequate And Flattering Lighting

One of the most important aspects of a location is the lighting. Making sure that there is adequate and flattering lighting is important if you plan on hiring a Photographer. One of the great things about shooting event photography at Saratoga Country club is that the lighting in the main event spaces are excellent. This is because of more than sufficient natural light from the windows. As well as additional lighti
2. The More Space, The Better

When planning an event, finding a venue that has a lot of space is ideal. I like to photograph events as unobtrusively as possible. And having more space is easier to do this. Photographing events from a distance allows a photographer to capture candid, genuine moments easier than it would be in tight spaces. No one feels comfortable with a giant camera shoved in their face 🙂 So the more space, the better!
3. Make The Event As Interactive As Possible

Another planning tip for events is to make the event as interactive as possible. Some ways to do this is by playing an interactive game, or having guests fill out a memory form. For example, creating table cards where guests can fill out a funny memory they have. The response cards can be used to create a book. When photographing events, I love interactive activities because I am able to capture fun reactions.
4. Schedule Cake Cutting, Family Portraits To Be Done No Later Than 15-30 Minutes Before Your Photographer Leaves

Last but not least, I recommend planning any posed family portraits and other important moments you would like to have captured to start no later than 15-30 minutes before your Photographer is done. This is especially important if things happen to be running late. Most times your Photographer may be able to stay longer than they were scheduled; however, if they have a hard cut off time, you will want to make sure that everything is photographed before they have to leave.
If you are planning an event, hopefully this quick blog post has been helpful. Thanks!
