Wedding Trends | The First Look
There are a lot of wedding trends that are becoming more-and-more popular with Brides and Grooms. Rarely do any of my couples have their ceremony in the church; and a lot of couples are also choosing to see each other before the ceremony and have “first looks.” Here are three reasons why you should consider having a first look at your wedding.
Seeing Each Other Before the Ceremony Calms Your Nerves
Believe it or not, when your partner comes down the aisle, you’ll feel the same emotions of seeing this whether or not you chose to see each other before the ceremony. The emotions not only come from seeing them, but it is mostly from the action of coming down the aisle. Beautiful music will be playing, everyone will stand and turn their heads, and it will be hard to keep your emotions in check. It’s a really dramatic moment and you will, no doubt, be a little nervous. It’s completely normal!
Getting a chance to see each other before the ceremony gives you the opportunity to have a little time alone with each other before everything kicks into gear. Once the ceremony starts, hours will seem like minutes, and the whole thing will be over before you know it. Couples will usually exchange notes or have a few reassuring words to say to each other, during the FL.

If you are on a tight timeline, seeing your partner before the ceremony is a great option. Instead of spending the entire cocktail hour taking portraits, you can knock this out before the ceremony.
Spend More Time With Your Guests
One of the things that I did not understand, until I had my own wedding, was that there just is not a lot of time to spend with your guests. Heck, you barely get time to sit down ad take a deep breath! If you have a wedding with a lot of items on your timeline, you may only get a quick minute to chat with guests. Having a first look enables you to participate in the cocktail hour and chat it up with guests. Most couples really like the idea of this.
If you are planning a wedding, I would love the opportunity to meet with you and discuss how I approach wedding photography. Send me a quick note through the contact form on my website. Thanks!
