JT’s Baseball Themed 1st Birthday

1st Birthday Party Ideas

First birthday parties are a pretty big deal! So much planning goes into making it just right and there are so many details to consider. Here are some 1st birthday party ideas that you can incorporate for your own party.

It’s All About The Decorations

Once you have a theme picked out for the party, you’ll need to come up with a bunch of great decorations to go with it. A couple of great resources for decorations are Party City and Etsy. With Etsy in particular, you can find stores that can customize banners and poster boards that are specific to your child. I’ve also found that adding pictures of the birthday boy/girl is another excellent way to do this. If you schedule a portrait session, about 2-3 weeks in advance, you can use these images to help decorate your space, send invitations, etc.

Plan Activities for Kids

Since there will be a lot of kids in attendance, you’ll want to make sure to have games or activities to keep them busy. Bubbles are ALWAYS a great idea. If you are OK with the kids having a little sugar, a pinata is a fun activity for the older kids. At this party, there was no need for a line because the 1st kid in line pulled the string that let out all of the candy!

Get Plenty of Pictures With Friends and Family

Of course, plenty of pictures of the birthday boy/girl with friends and family is VERY important 🙂 Scheduling these shots at the beginning of the party can be important. At the beginning of the party, your child will not be ready for their nap, and most of the guests will still be in attendance. Another great tip is to write down all of the important group shots beforehand – so that your Photographer will make sure to capture all of the shots.

Ask Friends & Family to Help, Hire a Caterer

Don’t do all of the work setting up on your own. Ask at least 2-3 friends or family members to help you set up. This will take some of the stress off of you – and there are plenty of people that are willing to help. Let them know that you’ll provide free food 🙂 Speaking of food, hiring a GREAT food caterer is a good touch. There are plenty of food trucks and catering companies that can fit with the theme of your party.
