Maternity Portraits at Crissy Field

Maternity Portraits At Crissy Field | Ashesh

If you have grown up in the Bay Area, like I have, it is easy to take a place like San Francisco for granted. Many people travel from all over the world to see San Francisco. The Golden Gate Bridge. And all of the other fun attractions in “The City.” One of my favorite places for portraits is Crissy Field. When the sun is setting, there is a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the beach. And if the weather is nice, you can capture some really great images. Here are some of the images we captured of Ashesh’s maternity portraits at Crissy Field. As well as two things to keep in mind when taking portraits at Crissy Field.

In The Evening, It Gets Cold And Windy

While Crissy Field is a great place for maternity portraits, it can get a little cold and windy. And it is really hard to predict what the weather will be like. In my experiences, the weather will sometimes be perfect in San Jose, but as soon as you get into San Francisco it changes. I found a great web app that can show you a live view of the Golden Gate Bridge. If you envision having a clear view of the GG Bridge, checking in on this app is a great idea 😉 Also, make sure to bring a jacket – to keep you warm in between poses. And a backup plan if the wind becomes an issue. Bringing a brush and a small mirror is a good idea – but you may also want to consider putting your hair up.

If Your Session Is Scheduled Around Sunset, Plan On Arriving Early

Another thing to consider, when driving into San Francisco, is the traffic. I always like to plan on arriving at least 30 minutes before the start of the session. This should give you enough time to adjust to any traffic delays and to find parking. If your session is scheduled to end right around the time the sun is setting, you will have less time for portraits if you are late. When the sun goes down, it gets dark quick and you will not be able to take portraits for much longer. So make sure to plan on arriving early 🙂
