My Recommendation On Where To Take Family Portraits In Palo Alto
There are many places you can go to take family portraits in Palo Alto. For example, many parks are generally great for portraits. And in Palo Alto there are a bunch of these. But my recommendation on where to take family portraits in Palo Alto is the Elizabeth Gamble Garden. If you are not familiar with the Elizabeth Gamble Garden, it is a place that most people do not know about. At most times of the year the flowers are beautifully in bloom. There are a bunch of different areas for portraits. And the lighting is good there at most times of the day. The best time to take outdoor portraits is definitely in the evening; however, you can take portraits here all day 🙂 Connie’s family portraits were taken in the early morning. Here are some examples from Connie’s family portraits session. As well as my favorite places to take portraits at the Elizabeth Gamble Garden.
The Beautiful White Gazebo
The center piece of the garden is a beautiful white gazebo. I love taking pictures with the gazebo in the background! It does a great job of framing families for portraits. And because it has four openings, you can take portraits of it at any time of the day 🙂 This is important because a general rule in photography is to always have your client’s back’s to the sun. As the sun moves, the direction you will need to face will also need to adjust. With four openings, families can always be facing a direction with their back’s to the sun 😉
Red Brick Walkway
Another really nice feature of the garden are the red brick walkways. I really like posing families in this general area and it is also great to pose kids sitting.
Rose Garden
Last but not least, the rose garden is also a beautiful area for pictures. Depending on the time of the year, the roses may be red, yellow, pink, or white! At times when the flowers are not in bloom, the roses may be trimmed. But the green arch and fencing is great to pose families near. Just like the gazebo, the archway is good for framing.
