If you have never taken family portraits, finding a location can seem difficult. Not every location is good – in terms of lighting. And a lot of places even require a permit to take pictures there! If you are looking to take family portraits in Mountain View, one of my top recommendations is Cuesta Park. Here are three reasons why Cuesta Park is one of my favorite family portrait locations in Mountain View.

Cuesta Park Is Pet Friendly

If you plan on including your fury family member to the session, Cuesta Park is VERY pet friendly. There is actually a dog park within the actual park 🙂 I encourage including all members of your family – and pets are always welcome! If you plan on including pets, it is important to mention this to the Photographer beforehand. Not every location is as pet friendly as Cuesta Park 😉

Lighting Is Great At Most Times Of The Day

Perhaps the main reason I really like scheduling family portraits at Cuesta Park is because of the lighting! No doubt, the best time to take outdoor portraits is in the evening. However, the next best thing is finding a location that has a lot of open shade. Cuesta Park is great for many reasons – and one of these is that there is a lot of shade. Shade creates nice soft lighting – which is perfect for family portraits.

There Is A Lot Of Space For Kids

Lastly, another reason Cuesta Park is one of my favorite family portrait locations in Mountain View is because there is a lot of space. In my experience, children do the best when there is a little space for them to run around. Whenever possible, I like to get fun and candid images to help bring out everyone’s personality. Sometimes this means capturing your family running, jumping, and being silly. And Cuesta Park is the perfect location to capture these moments!
