Every Photographer has a different style when it comes to the types of images they like to capture for family portraits. Over the years, I have come to find that most people prefer images that feel natural and unposed. One of the ways I have learned to do this is by just letting families be themselves. Creating opportunities where you laugh with one another. Are SILLY. And are more focused on each other than the camera has been my focus. This works especially well when photographing kids! How I Have Come To LOVE In Home Sessions

Over the last several months, I have been working with a company called Landed. Their mission is to help educators purchase their first homes. After their clients have been in their home, they schedule a Photographer to come out and take portraits. While most of my sessions take place outdoors, there is something special about images taken in your home. Since this is a place where you and your family spend so much time, it naturally means a lot. When I think back on all of the different homes I lived in as a child, I can picture some of the funny moments I had there with my family!

Your Home Is The Perfect Place For Candid Photos

Like I mentioned earlier, I just love getting candid and fun images during family portrait sessions. By having the session in your home it is really easy to accomplish this. There are various different places that you may love. It can be watering the plants outside, reading books in your bedroom, or rocking out with Dad in the living room! I really enjoyed all of the fun and candid pictures we captured of Kristen and her family 🙂
