Family Portraits At Alum Rock Park

Juli’s Fun Family Portraits At Alum Rock Park

One of the first things to consider, when scheduling family portraits, is the location. The time of day is also really important. But in my experience with working with families with kids, scheduling the session around kid’s nap time is CRITICAL 🙂 A tired baby usually does not start the session on the right foot! Getting kids prepared for family portraits is a whole different subject :)With all of that being said, Alum Rock Park is one of my new favorite locations for portraits. Here are some of the fun family portraits at Alum Rock Park. As well as three reasons why Alum Rock Park is a GREAT location for pictures!

Alum Rock Park Has Plenty of Shade!

One of the best features of Alum Rock Park is it’s shaded areas. In terms of lighting, this is needed for soft and flattering light for portraits. Believe it or not, shade is MUCH better lighting than direct sunlight. The shade is also great because it keeps everyone nice and cool 🙂 On the day of Juli’s session, it was really hot outside; and the shade helped to keep everyone cooled down!

The Location Is Not Too Busy

Another great thing about scheduling your family portraits at Alum Rock Park is that it is not too crowded. I have come to find that most people do not like a ton of people around when taking portraits. And it helps not to have people “photo bombing” in the background as well 🙂 Having less people means less distractions for little ones as well.

There Are A Variety of Different Backgrounds

Last but not least, there are a ton of different backgrounds to choose from. I love the textures of the rock bridges and how these come out in images. There are also a lot of beautiful trees and green grass throughout the park. And I almost forgot about the water 🙂 There is a stream that runs through most of the park and it can also be a great place for portraits.

If you are thinking of a new location for family portraits, Alum Rock Park is really nice. The shade keeps everyone cool; there are not a lot of people; and there are a variety of different backgrounds!
