Whether you like taking pictures or not, it is a must that you have a GREAT headshot. They can be used for several things – including social media platforms like LinkedIn. Here are some of the LinkedIn headshots in San Jose of Daniel – which were taken at my studio. As well as pointers for taking headshots if it is your first time 😉

Don’t Sweat The Small Details

When it comes to taking your first headshots, it may be easy to overthink it. At the end of the day, someone may look at your headshot for a few seconds. But in those few seconds, you have an opportunity to make a good impression. The best way to do this is by giving a confident and approachable expression. Other details such as the color of your shirt, whether you should be wearing a tie, etc. are important but come second to a killer smile or expression!

Your Attire Should Match Your Job or The Job You Are Applying For

Another quick tip is to make sure your attire matches the job you are in or are applying for. Depending on the company, this can vary quite a bit! For example, I have worked with Clients who work for Facebook and their headshots are more casual than a typical business headshot. This is due to the fact that Facebook has a very casual culture. Suits, dress pants, and ties are not the type of feel they are going for – more times than not. Headshots for business executives are a little different. So just make sure that your attire matches… a good way to double check is to go to your companies website and see what others have taken headshots in 😉

A Simple Background Is Recommended

One of the other things to consider for your first headshots is the background. In my experience, a simple white background will always be a good look. And you should also consider that the background can always be changed in post production 😉
