One of the biggest milestone’s for a family is a child turning one year old. Perhaps the best way to celebrate is to schedule a cake smash session. One of the main advantages to having your cake smash session at a studio is that the lighting and weather is controlled. Outdoor sessions can also work really well; however, some locations may not have ideal lighting at certain times of the day. In the studio, the lighting is able to be controlled which results in soft and consistent lighting for your images.

Depending on the studio, they may also have several different backgrounds that can be used for the session. A simple white background is nice and clean. But you may want a pink or blue background to add a little more color. Make sure to check with your Photographer to see what background options are available.

You Will Receive Your Images Quicker

Another great thing about studio sessions is that you typically receive your images quicker. This is due to the lighting being controlled and consistent. When you have a session outdoors, the lighting can change from image to image. But in studio sessions have pretty much the same lighting in each image. This makes editing the images simple and easy and most times I am able to deliver the edited images in a day or so 🙂

There Are Less Distractions

Lastly, in a studio there are a little less distractions than outside. And keeping a one year old’s attention can be very challenging at times. Whenever a dog walks by or they see something that grabs their attention, it takes away from the session. In a studio, we can play music, dance around, and really keep them dialed into the session.
