Golden Hour Maternity Portraits at Shoreline Lake Park
Golden hour is the most popular time of the day to take maternity portraits. At this time of the day, the lighting is BEAUTIFUL, soft, flattering! Here are some examples of the golden hour maternity portraits at Shoreline Lake park that I took of Sonam.
What Is Golden Hour?
If you have not heard of “golden hour,” it is the hour right before the sun sets. At this time of the day, the sun gives off a “golden” hue and the lighting is very soft and flattering. If you schedule a session where the sun sets low on the horizon and is not obstructed by buildings, tall trees, etc. it can create really nice portraits. I always recommend scheduling sessions around an hour before the sun sets – for these reasons. You can check out exactly what time the sun sets by referring to a sunset calendar 😉
What To Consider If You Plan On Changing Outfits For a Golden Hour Session
While, golden hour is the absolute best time to take maternity portraits, there are a few things to consider when taking portraits around this time. One of them is considering the amount of time it will take to change outfits. While some locations are a little difficult to coordinate outfit changes, the great thing about taking golden hour maternity portraits at Shoreline Lake Park is that there are restrooms. Make sure that you and your partner are able to change in about 5-10 minutes. Otherwise, you will be cutting into your session time. You will especially want to make sure that you change outfits a little before halfway through the session. That way you can catch the sun setting before it hides behind the horizon 😉
Feel Free to Bring a Close Friend or Family Member to the Session To Help Out
A convenient thing that Sonam did for her golden hour maternity portraits at Shoreline Lake Park was bringing some friends to help out. Her friends were able to help with her outfits and to also make sure that her hair and makeup were squared away. They also helped out with holding props while we just focused on posing 🙂 I particularly liked Sonam bringing some friends because it helped keep her confident and comfortable. If this will help you too, I HIGHLY recommend and encourage it.
Hopefully these BEAUTIFUL golden hour maternity portraits at Shoreline Lake Park have given you inspiration for your own session 🙂 Thanks!
